It's been almost six and one half years since arriving in Portland, and we continue to wake each day as though it were our first: thankful to be here, loving the beauty of the Northwest, and savoring each moment. Michelle and I enjoy our morning time at the coffee table for a daily dose of Oswald Chambers' "My Utmost," and a prayer for our families, friends, and our day. Today's reading was especially cool. It was on perseverance. A good reminder that, as we look at our world and global tensions...even in-fighting among fellow countrymen, concerns of global warming, terrorist threats, and such doomsday thinking, Oz offers this reminder. "Our greatest fear is not that we will be damned, but that somehow Jesus Christ will be defeated." We CAN easily forget that, Christ will NOT be defeated, and we have inherited the same future!
This morning, God blessed us with yet another of His magnificent works of art: the sun rising at Mount Hood. I had to take a shot of this one, just to share it with you.
WherEVER you are today, whatEVER the weather, pause for a moment, check to see if you are breathing, and if so, thank Him for this gift of a day He gave to you.
